Mary Elizabeth Shue –
Charleston native Mary Elizabeth Shue traces her ancestry back to the founding fathers of South Carolina. An alumnus of both Ashley Hall School and College of Charleston Mary Elizabeth has more than twenty years experience in hospitality and tourism. She developed her love of all things Charleston at the knee of her mother, a well-know tour guide & historian, grandmother, and great-grandmother who began giving tours of Charleston to early tourists in her 1950s Ford Station Wagon! Mary Elizabeth loves sharing the beauty and history of Charleston through the events that she plans. When not planning events she enjoys gardening, hiking, and exploring the natural world with her husband and teenage sons.
Mary Elizabeth’s attention to detail and dedication to fulfilling her client’s needs are apparent in the hundreds of successfully executed events in her nearly 10 years with SpiritLine Cruises. Mary Elizabeth prides herself in providing excellent customer service and focusing on the minute details that come together to form an exquisite event. Tim Bedwell –
Another team member who is very instrumental in our dining and event operations is our Executive Cruise Director, Tim Bedwell. Tim hails from Roanoke, VA, but has lived in Charleston since 1990. Tim also began his culinary career early. At the young age of 15, he began working with a local catering company and realized his talent for the culinary arts, as well customer service. Upon graduation from the Art Institute of Atlanta and The Portfolio School, Tim continued his pursuit of a career in the food and beverage industry.
Beginning in Winston-Salem at La Chaudiere, he began to hone his skills as a culinary professional. Working long, hard hours, learning as much as he could, he knew he was in the right business for his special skills and talents. He then accepted a position at Café Leons, where he found even more inspiration. Tim decided Charleston was the place to be and moved here to open Jumping Java, a coffee house. Eventually he took a position that would launch his career to a whole new level. His executive chef position at Celia’s Porta Via ultimately lead him to Middleton Place Restaurant. He held the executive chef position at this well-know establishment for five years.
Tim brought his wealth of knowledge in the food and beverage industry and his wonderful customer service skills to SpiritLine Cruises & Events in 2004, and now over-sees a staff of approximately 45 employees. On an average day he goes from the choreography of setting up a dining yacht for an event for 250 guests, supervising his staff, all who perform like a well-oiled machine, to making sure each detail of the event is picture perfect, then onto greeting the guests, making sure each person onboard has the best possible experience. “We are indeed fortunate to have such a hard-working, capable cruise director as one of our team members and you can rest assured that your event will be handled with the utmost care and quality with this gentleman in charge.” states Ian Harris – Director of Sales and Marketing.
Ian Harris –
Having been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, Ian was a natural fit for SpiritLine Cruises. He has been with us for nearly 3 years serving as the Director of Sales & Marketing. Prior to joining SpiritLine he was VP of Sales and Marketing for ResortQuest International (now Wyndham Vacation Rentals) for over 4 years. Ian loves the water and truly has hospitality in his heart. Born in Virginia, Ian moved to Charleston right out of college and never left. “This is home and I could not think of another place I would rather live”, said Ian when speaking of Charleston.
